Dear Caritas Internationalis Communications Team,
 +
 +
I am writing from Taiwan to request clarification and permission regarding the animated short film “One Human Family, Food for All”, produced for Caritas Internationalis and originally published on YouTube:
 +
 +
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhU5JEd-XRo
 +
 +
I understand that the film was created as part of Caritas Internationalis’ “One Human Family, Food for All” campaign, with animation and production by EALLIN and direction by Denizcan Yuzgul.
 +
 +
I would like to use this film for non-commercial educational and public-interest purposes in Taiwan, particularly to introduce the message of sharing and mutual assistance represented by the “allegory of the long spoons.”
 +
 +
Before doing so, I would like to obtain clear permission from the appropriate rights holder(s).
 +
 +
Could you please confirm whether I am permitted to do the following?
 +
 +
Download the original video
 +
Download and retain a copy of the film for the purposes described above.
 +
Add Traditional Chinese subtitles
 +
Add an accurate Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) translation as subtitles, without altering the original images, music, message, or meaning of the film.
 +
Non-commercial public screening
 +
Show the film, including the Traditional Chinese subtitled version, in non-commercial educational presentations, lectures, classes, community activities, or other public-interest events in Taiwan.
 +
Self-host the video on a non-commercial website
 +
Host a copy of the original or Traditional Chinese subtitled video on a non-commercial educational/public-interest website, with full attribution to Caritas Internationalis, EALLIN, the director, and other appropriate creators.
 +
Re-upload the video to YouTube
 +
Upload the original or Traditional Chinese subtitled version to a non-commercial YouTube channel for educational/public-interest purposes, again with full attribution and a link to the original Caritas Internationalis video.
 +
In all cases, the film would not be sold or used for commercial advertising, and the credits and attribution requested by Caritas Internationalis and/or EALLIN would be clearly displayed.
 +
 +
Could you also please clarify:
 +
 +
whether Caritas Internationalis is the copyright holder, or otherwise has authority to grant these permissions;
 +
whether separate permission from EALLIN, director Denizcan Yuzgul, BANG, or any other contributor is required;
 +
whether there are any specific attribution requirements or copyright notices that should accompany the film;
 +
whether there are any restrictions on translation, subtitling, downloading, hosting, or redistribution;
 +
and whether an official high-resolution (preferably 1080p) master file is available for an authorized educational use, rather than downloading a compressed copy from YouTube.
 +
If Caritas Internationalis is not the appropriate rights holder for any of these permissions, I would be very grateful if you could direct me to the person or organization who can authorize such use.
 +
 +
I am happy to provide the Traditional Chinese subtitle translation for review before publication if required.
 +
 +
Thank you very much for your time and for the work behind this meaningful film.
 +
 +
Kind regards,
 +
